Beddgelert Bikes , one of the leading Mountain Bike Centres in the Snowdonia National Park is located in Beddgelert Forest and is open all year round. The cycle trails within the forest are clearly marked with numbered posts to ensure that routes can be easily followed. Snowdonia is a magnet for walkers and mountaineers. There are 90 mountain peaks in the Snowdonia range and Snowdon itself is the highest point in England and Wales at 1,085m (3,560 feet). There are 6 routes up Snowdon, several starting near to (within 2 to 3 miles) of Beddgelert; and of course there are many other fine mountain walks to be enjoyed. Wherever you walk you are guaranteed breath-taking scenery and diverse landscapes; from rugged mountain tops to crystal clear lakes and rivers. Around Beddgelert village itself the Fisherman’s path is just one of several excellent low-level walks. And there is an accessible path starting in the village; Gelert’s Trail.
Some of the very best climbing in Britain is to be found in the mountains of Snowdonia with climbing grades to suit climbers from beginner to expert. The Llanberis Pass and Tremadoc climbing areas are easily accessible from Beddgelert.
White water kayaksers flock to the Glaslyn. When the water levels are correct it offers some exhilarating white water adventure. For a less white knuckled ride, there are plenty of inland lakes where padding and dinghy sailing can be enjoyed. You can check any requirement for launching permits and so forth at the Tourist Information Centre in the village.
The River Glaslyn provides good opportunities for fishing for brown trout. The river is controlled by the Glaslyn angling association who can also advise on other fishing opportunities in the area, Glan Morfa trout fishery just outside Porthmadog is a 5 acre lake is set in beautiful countryside and is kept well stocked with Rainbow Trout. Slightly further afield, but still easily accessible for a day trip, sea fishing is available at Dinas Dinlle and boats are available for hire in Caernarfon for sea fishing trips in Caernarfon Bay and the Menai Straits where good bass, mackerel and flat fish grounds are to be found.

Picture this. A perfect lozenge-shaped fresh-water lagoon, roughly the size of six football pitches, set in the lush, green Conwy Valley in the lee of the Snowdonia mountains. Breathe it in. It’s clean, it’s fresh, it’s wild and it’s beautiful. Now add something entirely unexpected. A powerful head-high wave that rises at the centre of the lagoon, peels perfectly for more than 150 metres, and dissipates softly as it hits the shore. Welcome to the Surf Snowdonia Adventure Park: a revolutionary world-first inland surf lagoon and the UK’s most compelling outdoor adventure destination for you, your friends and the whole family to enjoy. Our awesome 300-metre surf lagoon is the main deal, but there’s loads of other stuff to try out when you visit – from adrenalin thrills & spills on our Crash and Splash lagoon to SUP safaris, kayaking and kiddies soft play. It includes a pair of zip lines a mile long, where riders can exceed 100mph, 500ft high and experience the nearest thing to flying. Zip World Titan opened in June 2014 at Llechwedd Slate Caverns, near the historic slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog. This is the first 4 person zip line in Europe and the combination of Velocity and Titan makes North Wales the zip line capital of the world. Bounce below, junior bounce and Zip world caverns , three incredible underground adventures, are also located at Llechwedd Slate Caverns. 2016 brings an additional Zip World location to the map with the acquisition of Tree Top Adventure, now to be known as Zip world forest. With more adventures in the pipeline, Zip World is most definitely the ultimate destination for the Year of Adventure.
